Sunday Painting: Vase with Flowers by Jan Davidsz de Heem

This weekend we took a road trip up to Philadelphia for the annual flower show. I thought it only fitting then that this week’s Sunday Painting be of flowers. This beautiful still life is from the Mauritshuis in Den Haag, which we visited back in October.

I do love this. My husband lived in Den Haag for several months last year so I had a few trips, and a lot of time wondering around wonderful art galleries. You reminded me of this happy time thanks, Hannah

Love these Dutch flower paintings. If you can't actually have spring, these paintings can be a very adequate substitute. Thanks for sharing!

Hannah: I would love to stay in The Hague for several months. It is just the right pace for me.

Mlle: The difficulty is choosing just one Dutch flower painting to showcase.
