I am not a huge fan of pumpkin pie, but John really loves it. So we got out his grandmother’s recipe and popped it in the oven. It won’t be the only dessert over the next few days…
UPDATE: John rightly points out that if you try this recipe don’t make any substitutions on the Molasses. Anything darker will make for a very dark, rather unpleasant pie.
Well I just took the pumpkin pie out of the oven, but I wish I'd seen Grandma Winifred's recipe first! There is a bit more sugar in her recipe, and I'm intrigued with the molasses, too. Wish I had time to make another! Next time…
Merry Christmas!

Ha! I was making a pumpkin pie around the same time today! Not my favorite either (except in ice cream flavor) but my husband has to have his fix:)

JoAnn: It really is a fantastic recipe. I just tried a bit of it. So good I decided to have a piece.
BookPsmith: So what is your Christmas favorite?

It is the best pumpkin pie, but we did make the mistake of using the green label molasses instead of the gold and everyone at our gathering thought is was chocolate pie. Will never make that mistake again! Happy baking. Jim says no more sweets in the house for a while. Enjoy Thailand! Lisa

Lisa: Tell Jim that overeating at Christmas is why New Year's resolutions are so easy to make.
