Poor J. Franzen. I feel a little sorry for him. I am glad I am not famous when I think of all the stupid things I have said in my lifetime. I love Forster and Greene and I don't think they are overrated at all. Who is doing this rating?

It is a little odd that he mentioned George Saunders as a novelist worth reading considering he mostly writes short stories. In fact, I don't think he has actually published a novel.

I have both The Corrections and Freedom. They are very easy to find in 2ond hand book shops. But I haven't read either yet.

I probably shouldn't comment because I can't bear to even watch the clip — I absolutely loathed The Corrections and would like those hours of my life back. Everything I've ever read about Jonathan Franzen leads me to believe he's a pompous jerk. The way he acted about Oprah's show made me dislike him even more. And I love E. M. Forster's novels. I've only read one by Graham Greene so far, Travels With My Aunt, but I really enjoyed it.

I thought the clip would provoke a reaction, but I had no idea how many people loathe Franzen. The words 'pompous' and 'jerk' have been employed several times.

I enjoyed The Corrections but couldn't quite see what all the fuss was about. I haven't bothered reading any of Franzen's others.

The clip is remarkable – in a mere 2 minutes and 45 seconds, Franzen manages to annoy so many people.

The clip really made me appreciate J.D. Salinger and Thomas Pynchon both even more than I already do.

Ruthiella: You would think he would be used to his massive fame by know and think out what he is going say.

Karen: I had to force myself to watch the whole video so I could feel free to call him an idiot.

Steerforth: I must admit I have never actually read him. Descriptions of his books leave me cold. Those great american tomes you mention.

James: Is it okay if I LOL.
