Yesterday at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Used Book Sales I came up with these lovely pairings. Trust me, they weren’t displayed as pairs, after combing through tables and tables of books they managed to re-introduce themselves to each other in my rather large, heavy bag.

I don’t really collect Wodehouse, but would you pass them up? |

I’ve always wanted to read The Old Wives’ Tale. And now I can get even further into Bennett’s head. |

First I found the great vintage Penguin of a book I already own in two editions. Then I stumbled across my very quick glance at the history tables. |

I already own a very well worn and much read copy of this one. I still couldn’t pass up what appears to be a US first edition and a great old paperback. |
As you know, I work at a used bookstore. My heart would skip a beat if some of these showed up in a buy. (Not because of value, just really cool stuff.) Good eye!

I did not know that the Penguin book Love in a Cold Climate is an uncommon one. I've got the same!!!

I highly recommend The Old Wives Tale. I must read more Bennett myself! And I also have The Sisters on the TBR, but the paperback version that coordinates with The Pursuit of Love/Love in a Cold Climate. Must read more about the Mitfords as well!

No, I would not have left the Wodehouse behind. What good finds!

Steve: I will admit I not only have a good eye but a fast one. I kept buzzing down the tables as people slowly read book jacket synopses. It helps that not a lot of people share my tastes.
Mystica: That old edition is definitely unusual to find here in the US.
Karen: I now have a fair amount of Mitford and I have yet to read any of it.
Susan: It was a lot of fun.

It interests me how many British books can be found at US used book sales. I was so excited to find nice old copies of favourite American books here, but all I find are English classics!
Absolutely fantastic finds, by the way. I love those pairings. And the Mitford biography is fantastic – read it soon!
