I have already reviewed all of the books I read while we were away. I lugged the gigantic War and Peace many, many miles and didn’t make much headway. And I read the first 100 pages or so back in early December, so although I remembered what happened, I started to get confused by who was who. So I took some time to go back through and make a little chart to help me keep everyone straight.

Your photos are beautiful. I didn't get to comment in all of them but I read all your posts with your photo trips. I loved seeing the coconut trees which I miss..

I am finding W&P quite confusing too! Fortunately my copy has a list of characters and how they're related at the front – I have had to turn to it several times!! Love all your holiday pics.

That's a very neat chart! I've re-read Louise Erdrich's Love Medicine many times but I have to draft a new chart each time to remember who is related to who. Stunning photos of your travels.

Claire: My problem with W&P is that I let almost a month go by after reading the first 100 pages, so when I picked it up again I got a little confused.
Skirmishofwit: My copy has the character list as well, but it doesn't give enough info to really remember character traits that are helpful in later chapters.
Vintage Reading: I think I have only read one Erdrich book back in college. I don't think it was Love Medicine. It was before I started keeping track of the books I read so I don't remember for sure.

Overdue: Guilty as charged. The resort we were staying at had this lovely pad of sketch paper. And since I have no artistic talent this was the best use I could think of.

Nearly fifteen years ago, I dragged War and Peace all over Hawai'i with me (and still didn't manage to finish it there). I could have used your chart, I think. I liked it a lot, but ultimately decided I liked Anna Karenina better.

Thanks for taking us along on your trip with wonderful commentary and photos. We went on a 2 week tour of Thailand several years ago. The tour wasn't for us (too organized) so we dropped out after four days and rented a car. It saved the vacation.

Rob: We aren't big on tours either. But renting a car in Thailand? That shows an adventurous spirit that I don't have. Good for you.
