Quick Intro to Upstairs Downstairs

After my recent post about Upstairs Downstairs, it seemed that many of you have never seen this wonderful show, and would probably like it. So I found this clip from from the 2007 Bafta awards that gives a quick glimpse of what Upstairs Downstairs was all about. The laugh track is absolutely awful, the director/producer of the Bafta show should be ashamed. Although the show had its humorous bits, none of the clips shown here and overlaid with laugh track fall into that category. Also, based on the delivery of some of the casts’ lines at the award show, they meant this whole thing to be funny. I don’t know why. It’s like a bad episode of Jonathan Ross–oh wait, every episode of Jonathan Ross is a bad episode of Jonathan Ross. The audio is also a bit off from the video, but despite all of this it is still worth a look.

Just wanted to pop by and say thanks so much for my Persephone secret santa gift! They've both arrived today at work and I'm so happy you put the bookmarks on the outside so I can see what I've got as I can't unwrap them until I get home. I'm excited to get stuck into my first Persephone and really it's wonderfully nice of you to send me two, heftily sized books :) Also I think it's really cool that I just started following your blog about a month ago and you ended up being my secret santa, makes it like receiving gifts from someone I've actually met.

Will stop gabbling now, but once again ta very much!

Hi Jodie: Glad you got the packages that came directly from Persephone. There is another package from the USA on its way to you as well.

Upstairs Downstairs oh the memories. I will look for the dvd.Watching that clip all the characters and stories came flooding back, you have pretty much made up my mind on what I am getting my mum for xmas, never an easy decision, so thanks for that.
Thomas have you read Byatt's The Children's Book it covers a similar time period but a rather different perspective with it's focus on things like the arts and crafts movement with all your lovely images of art works I thought it might be your kind of book.

    Jodie: My pleasure.

Book pusher: I am glad I could help.
