Ha ha. I could care less about football, too. But am obliged to attend the superbowl party with my husband and pretend to have fun. O well. At least they don't expect me to know anything about the game.
I love that spiky porcupine-looking bowl. And the ceramic one with tomatillos is very pretty.

This is so funny! Last year Masterpiece was finishing Emma on the Super Bowl; this year, no such luck…I think I might watch some Downton Abbey again.

I had to ask my brother yesterday which sport had the superbowl. I find grown-up people getting excited about sport incredibly difficult to take seriously… but I suspect they feel the same about me and books.

Love the bowls – although, I'm one of those “grown-up people who get excited about sports,” (sorry, Simon) :). Chalk it up to being born and bred in Texas — football (American, that is) is in our blood. I'll go one further and admit my fanaticism with NCAA sports — come March, I'll be glued to the basketball madness, and my beloved Longhorns are looking like they could go all the way this year. BUT, don't hold it against me — reading is my first love. :)

I too am very ignorant of the Superbowl and all it entails but the hammered stainless steel one is definitely my kind of bowl! Thanks for all the beautiful photographs.

I'm much more excited that pitchers and catchers report for spring training next week. Yay baseball! I'm pretty indifferent to football, but today's game ought to be a good one. (Go Packers!) I'm working today so will miss most of it. Our bookstore is right next door to a sports bar; we'll see if there's any crossover.

Those are some super bowls! I just burst out laughing. I have a meeting with the literary magazine I work for every Sunday and I got an email on Thursday saying we're meeting in the afternoon instead of evening to accommodate the Super Bowl. I didn't even know the Super Bowl was going on this weekend. I honestly thought it had already happened.

How brilliant you are! I stopped my partner on his way out the door to show him your post, which he too loved. (He's talking my son to orchestra rehearsal right now. Seems the conductor didn't see any conflict either.) Our kind of super bowl is definitely the handmade pottery one. Lovely.

These are wonderful bowls ,I have trouble following thew superbowl being english I find constant stats pointless and it seems to stop and start a lot I ll stick to my ehglish football lol ,the urchin bowl is the best buy the way love to have that at home ,all the best stu

Now THIS is a superbowl post I can get enthusiastic about!! :) Loved them all, but especially the last pic of Jeremy Northam in The Golden Bowl (not only do I love Jeremy Northam, but I'm currently reading and loving the James novel).

Frances: I think the ironstone may be my favorite as well.
Darlene: As I mentioned above, this year I actually knew. I usally favor the rustbelt teams (Pittsburgh) but growing up in Minnesota made me favor the Packers. At least it wasn't anything from the south. (Sorry Susan.)
Lifetime: Sometimes I am dense, I understood the Steelers, but never thought about where the name Packers came from.
Stu: With all the stops and starts, American football seems a bit like a peace conference. Except of course for all the violence.
Moter: A lot of us bookies didn't know it was on.
