Today was supposed to be the big reveal for the Persephone Secret Santa, but, due to weather-induced postal complications, I still don’t know who my PSS is. As you may have noticed I have been on a bit of a Persephone roll, having read two very recently. And today I started Someone at a Distance by Dorothy Whipple. I will have to make do with that until I get my PSS package.

I'm sorry you haven't gotten your gift yet but I'm actually relieved to hear that there's some postal problems in the States cos' my giftee hasn't received hers either. For a moment I thought she was the only one. I hope it all gets resolved soon and you both get your Persephones in time for Christmas.

I hope the celebratory reveal posts haven't made you too downhearted; everyone was exceptionally complimentary about my beautiful gift.
There are around half a dozen (I'm too scared to count as think it is upwards of that number) recipients who are still waiting for their gifts but they are on their way.
It wasn't only adverse weather conditions that conspired against your Santa & I know that s/he feels terrible.

Claire: Well, I must say that reading the other reveals did leave me feeling a bit like a four year old. I know mine is out there somewhere, but I couldn't help but pout a bit. Oddly enough, I am on page 143 of Someone at a Distance and I am not as drawn in as I usually am with a Whipple.
Frances and Verity: Everyone seems to know who my PSS is. I suppose I could narrow it down by doing a little blog investigating, but I that probably is not in the spirit of things.

I think I must have a Secret Santa (though not of the Persephone type). In today’s mail I received a copy of Laurence Olivier’s autobiography from a bookseller in Los Angeles. But there’s no packing slip or any indication of why I received it. At first I thought it was sent to me in error, but now I’ve decided Santa has deemed that I was at least a little bit nice this year — enough to find under the tree a soft-cover, previously owned book written by Heathcliff himself.
There’s an embossed From the Library of on the flyleaf just like I have in all of my books (except that my books have my name in them, not that guy’s {wink}). It gives me an enjoyable sense of connection to the stranger who is the previous reader of the book. I hope the adoptive parents of the books I donate or sell have a similar feeling about my name in the front of those.
