I'm so excited to see this. Rather thrillingly, I bumped into Helena Bonham Carter in Hampstead over the weekend – I took it as a sign I should definitely go see the film!
I saw the trailer on Netflix the other day and the film is in my “saved DVDs” queue already. It's such a grand story and it looks like the film has done it justice. The casting certainly is first rate.
yes, this is one of those movies I'll see opening day -and possibly 1 or 2 more times in the theater! They have to get the numbers to keep making great movies!
My husband mentioned that it won an award at the Toronto International Film Festival a couple of weeks ago. I can't wait for it to come out in wide release either!
Thomas, OMG! This looks like an excellen film to watch – I can't wait for it to come out here in the US! I love the cast and it just seems like it is going to be such an engaging film. Thanks for posting about it!
Fantaghiro: Welcome to My Porch! I am so glad you decided to join the conversation.
Karen: I hadn't heard anything about it either. I think that is what makes it even more exciting.
Iris: IMDB is where I ran across it myself. I love IMDB for so many reasons.
Lyn: What a great film for Boxing Day. Although I think if I was in Australia I would spend Boxing Day at the beach.
Miranda: Don't you think HBC makes a compelling young Queen Mum? Especially in this picture. How cool your bumped into her. My fantasy is that as I stroll on the Heath I run into Phyllida Law walkig her charming Labrador (I have no idea if she has one) and she invites me back to tea. While there her daughter Emma Thompson pops by and we all become fast friends.
Mary: It is a great angle for a film that is for sure.
Stefan: Based on what I have read this one might be pretty popular. But that should in no way keep you from seeing it multiple times in the theater (as I did with “The Queen”).
Darlene: It is already getting Oscar buzz for Firth and Best Picture.
Ti: If you love Firth have you seen him in Another Country? A very young Firth…
Nadia: I thought you all might want to know about it.
My daughter had preview tickets to this last spring and invited me. I absolutely LOVED it and look forward to seeing the final version when it is released!
Oh, my goodness. I am beside myself with this!!

I'm mostly excited because Jennifer Ehle is in it – and she doesn't even appear in the trailer! Outrageous!

Teresa: It kind of came in under the radar.
Mystica: That is good you will be able to see it.
Molly: You have seen it already! How cool.
Make Do and Read: It does look very good.
Simon: I didn't know she was in it. Apparently she plays Geoffrey Rush's wife. Hope that doesn't mean it's a small role.
