We are in Siem Reap, Cambodia right now. My cold is finally abating. And inadvertantly ingesting local ice last night has so far not caused any intestinal distress.
Off to Angkor Wat today.
Thanks to all for recent comments, wish I had time to respond. The conversation may have to be a little one sided until we get back to DC.
Make sure you set a good bit of time at the mural carvings-properly done you can get marvelous photos you can blow up that will look great on your walls-try to go out in the countryside if you have time-and there was when I was there a happy pizza shop LOL

Thomas – have a wonderful time! Love the pic. Just wanted to tell you what a good end of year post you did. As someone else commented, so well put. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures and what you eat while there.

Mel: We took lots of pictures of the mural carvings. We will have to wait and see them on the big screen to decide if they are any good.
Diane: Didn't take the photo. Found it on a tourist board site. Suppose I should link to it, but now I can't find it.
Karen: You should definitely keep it high on your wish list. It is a bit surreal. We feel like we are in a film.
Miranda: Cold almost gone. Feeling much better thanks.
Mlle: Thanks for the comment on the year end post. My blog used to be much more political until I realized how much I like blogging about books.

Thomas – strangest serendipity today of all days, as I was glancing through the blogroll of one of my regulars, and lo and behold Sir Henry Raeburn's picture of the skating vicar on Duddingston Loch:

hmm… I just want to report that it was -5 this morning in Minneapolis, so I am insanely jealous. I had a friend who once spent some night time adventuring at Angor Wat. Is that still possible?
